The Tyler PTA is an active and involved organization comprised of parents, guardians, teachers, and community members working to create opportunities for Tyler students and families. The PTA strives to be a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well being of every child.
It supports parent initiatives and administrative goals through advocacy, event planning and fundraising.
The PTA sponsors numerous projects throughout the year such as the Annual Scholastic Book Fair, the Family Resource Center, Box Tops, Escrip, the Annual Meet & Greet, various other fundraising projects, and assistance hosting and planning a variety of activities and events for the school.
The PTA certainly understands the problem of feeling inundated with one fund raiser after another. If this is the case, all we ask is that you review the description of events and choose one or two that you feel you are able to give your greatest support. Please remember that the money raised is used only for the benefit of the children. Computers, playground equipment, audio/visual equipment, and cultural enrichment programs are all examples of the use of such funds. Note: No door to door solicitation is permitted.
PTA executive committee and general membership meetings are always open to everyone. A parent or teacher does not have to be a member to attend, but only those who have paid membership dues may vote in elections, approve the budget, or approve a bylaws change. At executive board meetings, only members of the executive board may vote on issues. Board meetings are typically held on the first Thursday of each month during the school year; however, please check the school calendar for the current schedule.
Membership dues are $4 per person. You may pay your membership dues by cash, money order, or check. If you are paying by money order or check, please make it payable to the Tyler PTA.
We encourage you to join the PTA and let us hear your voice. If you are interested in volunteering and have not joined the PTA, please send an email to tylerpta@hotmail.com and let us know how you would like to be involved.
