Library
In 2007, through a unique public-private partnership between the District of Columbia Public Schools and the School Libraries Project, the Tyler Library was renovated and transformed into a vital learning space. The new state-of-the-art library/media center boasts modern technology, including new computers and wireless internet access, over 5000 brand new books and an innovative design that is unique and inviting. Its most valuable acquisition is a handmade butterfly mural which was inspired and designed in the Eric Carle style, matching the other Carle décor in the library. Students from all grades, including Tyler ’s special education program for autistic children, participated in creating the mural which is an inspirational focal point of the library. Staffed by certified library media specialist Audrey Drew-Duff, the center serves as the educational heart of the school.
The library is open daily from 8:45 am–3:15 pm. The policy regarding library book check-out is grade specific. Please contact the librarian with any further questions.
