A Succesful Inaugural Laps Around Lincoln!
We are proud to report that on Saturday morning fifty five children participated in the first ever Laps Around Lincoln. The weather was sunny and mild, President Lincoln Bobble-head mascot of the Washington Nationals was on hand to encourage the joggers. Dan McKenna kindly trumpeted the start of the two sets of runners. Kids with smiling faces painted the park red wearing t-shirts emblazoned with Ms. Dawkin’s classroom’s winning slogan “Witness the Fitness!”
True to their word, the participants walked and jogged, but mostly ran, a total of 533 times around the sunken area of Lincoln Park amazing all those present with their energy and enthusiasm. Highlights from the Lap Around Lincoln results are:
- Elias B. (17 laps) and Downing L. (16 laps) led the preschoolers
- Tessa S. (14 laps) and Io K. (12 laps) led Pre-K
- Lilly M. (11 laps) and Khalil S. ( 10 laps) led the K crowd
- Sara O. and Gabriela O. were the 1st grade leaders (17 and 18 laps, respectively)
- Norah S. (22 laps!) and matching Caleb S. and William S. (18 laps each) led the 2d grade charge
- Brittany J. (21 laps) and matching Bryanna B. & James M. (16 laps each) represented the 4th grade

For those who did not deliver their sponsor forms to the PTA mailbox or whose sponsors did not register their pledge online, please be sure to follow up for payment. You can also deliver the sponsor form to the PTA mailbox at the main office and we will contact the sponsors for you. Please don’t forget to say a personal “Thank you” to all of your sponsors.
