73 children sped around Lincoln Park a whopping 1199 times.

The crowd was cheered on by the National’s Baseball team mascot, the President Lincoln bobble-head.

For the record, Ms. Bustios’ Kindergarten class set a high standard by collectively logging 320 laps, followed by Ms. Manzano’s 1st grade classroom with 188 and Mr. Harris’ 3rd grade classroom that ran 148.

Congratulations to all the children that participated in the event!  It was all about having fun together, as Ms. Wilkin’s classroom expressed so wonderfully, “Together we Run for Fun!”

A roster with each of the participant’s names and the number of laps they ran will be posted on the PTA bulletin board next week.  Please be sure to check how many laps your child ran so that you can inform their sponsors and collect their pledges. You can also see the laps by first name only here.

Join Tyler Elementary School for Laps around Lincoln, a jog-a-thon geared to promote fitness and healthy lifestyles in youth, that will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, at historic Lincoln Park. The event  is open to all children in the age-range from preschool (age 3) through 5th grade.

TIME:  9:00 a.m.

WHERE: Lincoln Park, on East Capitol Street, between 11^th and 13^th Streets.

REGISTER:  Print out a form and drop off your signed waiver form and registration fee or mail it to 1001 G Street, S.E. Washington DC 20003.

FEE:  Register by April 24th and pay only $5.  After April 24th, registration fee will be $10.  Children are encouraged to seek sponsors.

RACE PACKETS:      Registration station on April 28 at Lincoln Park.  Tyler students will receive their packets at school on April 27.

Children may obtain sponsors who shall pledge either a lump sum or a dollar amount per lap around the concrete sidewalk in the sunken portion of Lincoln Park. For safety, the children will be separated by age into 3 groups.  Each group will have 30 minutes to jog around the circle. Parents or guardians are expected to accompany and supervise their children for the duration of the event and discourage any unsafe behavior.

Proceeds will support the sports and healthy lifestyle programs at Tyler Elementary School and other projects to provide a structured and healthy learning environment for students at Tyler.

Healthy snacks and water will be distributed free to participants.

Registered Tyler students will enjoy a dress-down day on March 26, and receive reminder bracelets which they are encouraged to wear the following week to school.

• April 11   Registration Opens. $5 fee per child.
• April 25   Registration Fee increases to $10 per child.
• April 26   Dress-down day and reminder bracelets for Tyler students.
• April 27   Bibs and t-shirts will be distributed in school to Tyler students.Non-Tyler students can pick up their packets on race day.
• April 28  Jog-a-thon! Jogging begins at 9 a.m., plan to arrive by 8:30 please!

Jean Diehl will engage you in an interactive presentation and discussion about her new book “Three Little Beavers.” She’ll also discuss her creative process. Come on out and join us for this fun night!

About the Author
Jean Heilprin Diehl’s other picture books include Loon Chase and Paloma’s Pie. Three Little Beavers was inspired by her interest in urban wildlife conflicts with happy endings.
